CONCERT IN MEMORY OF BORIS TISHCHENKO (1939 – 2010)

The concert in memory of an outstanding Saint Petersburg composer Boris Tishchenko includes two of his major compositions –
Concerto for harp and orchestra and
Requiem Aeternam (in memory of Princess Galiani) for soprano, mezzo-soprano, chorus and Symphony Orchestra. The Concert in five parts for harp and Orchestra, typically performed on three different harps, was written in 1977, and is devoted to its first performer – the famous Saint Petersburg harpist and the composer's wife Irina Donskaya.
Requiem Aeternam, dedicated to the memory of Thai Princess Galiani Vadhana, elder sister of the King of Thailand, was performed for the first time in Bangkok, on September 15, 2008. According to the composer, in the process of creating of this piece of music, he touched not only the Thai music, but also the fate and identity of princesses, who has made an invaluable contribution to the development of the culture of Thailand. The Fund of Princess continues to provide its assistance to talented students of classical music in Thailand.
As soloists of the concert, that will take place under the artistic director of the Capella Vladislav Chernushenko, we will see the well-known Saint Petersburg musicians, who has already participated in the performance of the works – harpist Irina Donskaya and two vocalists, Janna Dombrowskaya and Olesya Petrova.
